I just read an article by Alyssa Gregory Titled “Is Having a Passion for Business Enough? What You Need In Addition to Passion to Successfully Start a Business” [http://sbinformation.about.com/od/startingabusiness/a/passion-for-business.htm?nl=1]
It caught my eye because I am launching a product to help people monetize their passion. I agree totally with what Alyssa says.
It is not enough to just have a passion you want to share with others and maybe even make some extra spending money doing so. You need a solid plan.
You need a mentor to help guide you through the challenging areas. It is through collaboration with others that your success will be assured.
You must admit to yourself that you cannot and most likely will not do all of the steps required to actually be successful which is why you need some scaffolding.
It is not true that anyone can be, have, do anything when they put their mind to it and take action because we all know from experience that just does not happen in real life, for 95% of us.
Just because you are good at something, that you get excited when you share it with others, and that you love doing it, doesn’t mean that you can sit back and relax. You must continually improve on and learn more about your area of interest.
With the ease of access to all knowledge and with more and more being learned and written about and discovered, you must keep up to date on all of the latest information in order to help your customers/clients.
Of course, this should be easy when you are sharing something you love doing. This is the main reason why many are telling you to work in your passion.
If you have no passion or you loose your passion in what you are doing then it becomes a gut wrenching job that you will soon loose interest in.
To recap:
Do what you love and love what you do.
Find a mentor or a mastermind group who has the expertise to help you get over the pitfalls during the launching of your home-based business and the following two years.
Associate with others who love doing the aspects of your business that you hate doing or automate those parts. You need a system.
Finally, always be learning and experiencing more in your passion so you can share the most current discoveries with your clients/customers.
