D-Day, August 2, 2011

There are just a few short days before August 2, 2011.  My guess is that most Americans assume that the federal government will raise the debt ceiling.  If you have been following the news on the Internet you may realize that whether or not they raise the debt ceiling, the damage has already been done.

I say “news on the Internet” because I am afraid I do not trust any news on our main TV channels.  It makes me think back to George Orwell’s famous and perhaps now infamous book, 1984.  In the book the government controlled the people by giving them news based on how they wanted the people to react.

Add to this monetary meltdown the fact that prices are climbing and our wages are stagnant, we need to think outside the box in order to survive or even prosper in these stressful times.

Even in the first Great Depression, people made a lot of money, at least those who were prepared and used their natural talents to keep ahead of the fallout.

It may take more than just natural talent to keep ahead.  You may also need the benefit of scaffolding and collaboration.  Well, that and operating your own business on the Internet.

I say “Internet” because that is the easiest and quickest way to reach people globally.

Currently, one of the biggest advantages of starting your own business is the tax benefits for business owners.  However, that may change in the near future if the “Fair Tax” proposal becomes law.

By delaying in starting your own business and when everything around you collapses, you may not be able to generate enough happeneurship (see happeneur.com/what-is-a-happeneur) to make it.  The sooner you start your own business the better off you will be.

What kind of business, you ask?  Ideally, building your business by sharing what you love to do, is the best way to start.  It must be something you are passionate about in order to help you persevere through the challenging first 12 to 18 months.

Next, you must find someone or a group to help scaffold you in the areas you are not good at.  This means you do not need to know anything about building your business on the Internet when you have others to cover your weaknesses.

As long as you can supply content for your area of passion, you can succeed.
